Canadian pairs sit 2nd, 3rd after short program at Skate Canada International

Two Canadian pairs took the podium after their short program Friday at Skate Canada International, the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating event in Saskatoon.

Dina Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps are second (73.03), while Canada's Lia Pereira and Trenn Michaud, who used a personal best in the short program, finished third (70.66).

Canadians Dina Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps scored 73.03 points in the pairs short program at the Skate Canada International tournament in Saskatoon.

Minerva Fabien Haese and Nikita Volodin of Germany lead the pairs competition with the best score after the short program, with a total of 77.53 points.

Canadians Kelly Ann Laurin and Lucas Ethier (59.93) will start their free program tomorrow in sixth place.

Canadians Pereira and Michaud finished 3rd after a personal best result in the short program.

Leah Pereira of Milton, Ont., and Trennt Michaud of Belleville, Ont., earned a personal best score of 70.66 in the pairs short program at the Skate Canada International in Saskatoon.

Among the women, Japan's Monet Chiba (72.29) is slightly ahead of America's Isabeau Levito (71.80), while Italy's Lara Naki Gutmann (68.11) is in third place.

Monet Chiba of Japan is in first place after the women's short program at Skate Canada International with a score of 72.29.

Sarah-Maude Dupuis is the top Canadian in 8th place with 60.41 points.
