Canadian boxers Leila Beaudoin and Amanda (Bambola) Galle are back in contention for the title.
Both women were scheduled to fight separately for the title at a Nov. 14 card in Miami, headlined by Jake Paul and WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis. But the promotion company Paul co-founded, Most Valuable Promotions, dropped the card on November 3 after Davis' ex-girlfriend filed a civil lawsuit against him.
The tournament has been rescheduled to December 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, where Paul, an actor, influencer and boxer, will now face former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
Both Canadians face the same opponents.
Beaudoin (13-1-0 with two knockouts) will face undisputed featherweight champion Alicia “The Bomb” Baumgardner (16-1-0, 7 KOs) in the co-main event. The 31-year-old from Detroit holds the WBA, WBO and IBF titles at 130 pounds, while Beaudoin is ranked No. 2 by the IBF and No. 4 by the WBO.
The title fight will be played over 12 three-minute rounds.
Baumgardner also held the WBC world title but decided to vacate it because the sanctioning body does not currently allow women to fight in three-minute rounds.
Beaudoin, a 29-year-old from Levis, Quebec, has won four tournaments in a row. In January 2024, she avenged her only professional loss by defeating Mexico's Elizabeth Chavez Espinoza by unanimous decision.
The weight limit for super featherweight (also called junior lightweight) is 130 pounds.
Baudouin, a Canadian amateur champion in the 60 kg (132.3 lb) division, turned professional in 2019 and won the WBO international super-featherweight (minor championship) title in August 2024.
On the undercard, Halle (12-0-1, 1 KO) will face Australian world bantamweight champion Cherneka (Sugar Nicks) Johnson (18-2, 8 KO). Johnson holds the WBO, WBA, WBC and IBF titles in the 118-pound weight class.
Halle is ranked 4th by the IBF and 5th by the WBA.
The 36-year-old from Mississauga, Ontario, began training in combat sports at age six, earning a black belt in karate, inspired by the television series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Transitioning to boxing, she had her first fight at age 16 and won three national titles (2009, 2013 and 2018).
Halle turned professional in 2019. Her nickname “Bambola” means “doll” in Italian.
A graduate of Metropolitan University of Toronto (formerly Ryerson University) in Early Childhood Education, Halle trains at the All-Canadian Martial Arts Academy in Mississauga. Today she teaches boxing at the gym's academy.
The Dec. 19 event will also feature a six-round heavyweight boxing bout between former UFC champion Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley, who will replace the injured Chris Weidman.
The Paul-Davis fight was originally scheduled for Atlanta, but was moved to Florida, where it was sanctioned despite the weight difference between the two fighters. Paul usually fights at heavyweight, while Davis holds the 135-pound title.
Due to this difference in weight, the fight was declared an exhibition, which meant that the result would not be included in any of their professional records.
