The family of two sisters is hoping to see changes at a northwest Calgary intersection after a collision last week left two sisters seriously injured. Dalhousie district.
Older sister Alejandra, 18, was walking her 10-year-old sister Camilla to school on the morning of November 20 when they were hit by a car at the intersection of Dalhousie Drive and Dalglish Road NW.
“I got a call that there was an accident right down the street,” says their grandmother Deborah Graham.
“A family member drove past the ambulances, the eldest daughter had not yet returned, and it turned out that two girls were injured.”

The family says the sisters suffered multiple broken bones and fractures and underwent surgery. Both are now recovering in hospital.
After the accident, the family is looking for ways to get the city to make the intersection safer for pedestrians.
“I'd like to see a red light where they have to stop,” Graham says.
City officials told Global News they “regret that this incident occurred near Dalhousie Drive and Dalglish Road NW and our thoughts are with everyone involved.
“We appreciate the family’s concerns and will review the location to determine if any safety improvements are needed.”
Newly elected city councilman DJ Kelly says he's waiting for the police report on the crash to understand exactly what happened.
“Once I get that, we can look at what we can do to invest in City Hall to improve intersections like this to reduce the likelihood of something tragic like this happening in the future,” Kelly says.
It is not yet known whether any charges will be laid, but Calgary police statistics show there have been about 450 pedestrian collisions this year.
A GoFundMe was started to help the family focus on their sister during this difficult time.
The family says they are expected to make a full recovery.
