California has long been known for its counterculture, its madness and its “otherness.” But in recent decades this reputation has become sinister; it's no longer about The Beach Boys, surf culture, Beverly Hills Cop or even The Eagles. Over the last 15 years or so, give or take, it has been more about hard left politics, social decay, socialism, and in the COVID years even totalitarianism as the power structure in the Golden State has passed the most incarcerating measures of almost any state.
Now, unsurprisingly, the state's brain trust appears to be in something of a schizophrenic state, because even though Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill banning law enforcement from wearing masks, the wine country county is requiring that you press your N95 again.
A California wine country county is strengthening its vaccination guidelines and mandating the use of masks, citing a “greater risk” of infection. COVID-19 as the annual flu season begins.
Sonoma County Department of Public Health Interim Health Officer Dr. Karen Smith issued an order Monday requiring anyone entering certain county health care facilities to wear a mask. Facilities covered by the order include skilled nursing facilities, portions of long-term care facilities that provide nursing care, acute and acute rehabilitation facilities, infusion centers and dialysis centers, according to the order.
You can almost feel the slow mission chilling in your bones. Let's take a look at some more of their plans (emphasis mine):
The mask mandate will be in effect from November 1 to March 31, 2026, and the order states that Smith may as necessary, expand the list of objects falling under it. [We’ve seen this game before in California.] In addition, there will be a requirement annually unless otherwise canceled.
“Annually unless otherwise waived.” Oh really? Don't you get the feeling that this was part of the plan all along – and they will try to expand the requirements for as long as possible as soon as they see the opportunity? Masks equal virtue, you know?

The Trump administration has said Newsom's whistleblower law is unconstitutional and has urged him to enforce it. However, now that Sonoma County's new rules are in place, the obvious question is: Why wouldn't some resourceful officer say he's worried about COVID and needs to mask up? Make him/her take it down and the lawsuits could be endless.
-What are you afraid of? – the governor with an intricate hairstyle asked the masked agents. Well, now it looks like the answer might be, “We're afraid of the Wuhan flu and we trust Sonoma County leadership.”

The anti-science, chaotic and ridiculous response to the virus over the years has illustrated everything that is wrong with the state's leadership and, frankly, the country's progressive leadership regarding COVID.
California, once known as deliciously crazy, is now known simply as bat, guano, crazy.
