Just three games later, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube announced his displeasure with William Nylander.
While Nylander has four points in three games so far, it must be said that his only goal came in an empty net against the Canadiens. He didn't really participate much, only making three shots.
The Queen City team is off to a bad start to the season with one win and two losses.
“Honestly, I don't know what's going on. I'm going to talk to him to see what his state of mind is,” Berube told Toronto media on Tuesday.
Berube stressed that Nylander “needs to attack with more confidence and play more inside.” [des points de mises au jeu]”
Nylander had 84 points, including 45 goals, last season, but he especially excelled in the playoffs, posting 15 points, including six goals, in 13 games.
The Maple Leafs host the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.
