BTS announces March comeback date, putting an end to a nearly four-year hiatus

NEW YORK — They're going to blow up 2026 like dynamite: K-pop group BTS the comeback has an official date.

According to a message published on social networks by entertainment company BigHit Music, the mega-popular group will return on March 20.

And this is after a break of almost four years, as all seven members of BTS – RM, Jin, Jimin, V, Suga, Jungkook and J-Hope – completed Compulsory military service in South Korea.

“March 20th comeback confirmed,” BigHit Music wrote on X earlier on Twitter.

Rapper Suga was the last member of the group. released – from their duties as social service agentan alternative to military service, which he reportedly chose due to a shoulder injury. This was in June 2025.

Six others RM, V, Jimin, Jungkook, Jin and J-Hope served in the military.

BTS staggered their recruitment into tiers, giving members ample time to focus on solo projects while the group was on hiatus.

Last summer, the band announced a world tour and announced that new album will be released in spring 2026. They then stated that they would begin work on the project in July 2025.

“Since this will be a group album, it will reflect the thoughts and ideas of each member,” they said. the statement says. “We're approaching the album with the same attitude we had when we first started.”

The 2026 album will be their first since 2022's anthology “Proof”, 2021's Japanese compilation “BTS, the Best” and their latest studio album “Be”, released in 2020.
