The move comes about a month after ESPN host Michael Wilbon said he “hopes[d] there was pressure to just get [Pearl] left Auburn because “he had become a divisive man.” Pearl has been outspoken on politics, especially regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
In a talk with Will Kane earlier this month, Pearl replied to Wilbonwhom he said he “loves,” adding that Wilbon's “dear friend” contacted him and told him Wilbon's feelings were “probably political” and “not anti-Semitic.”

“I was a regular on the show Pardon the Interruption. And I love Tony [Kornheiser] and Mike, and we have a great relationship with them. … If there is something that I am not, it causes controversy. All my life I have tried to bring people together. Perhaps this is an example of why we cannot agree to disagree over political speech,” Pearl said.
“I was not forced to leave. I love Auburn. I love the opportunity now to do something for faith, family and our country, to be a defender of Israel, a defender of education. I look forward to doing this while my son wins basketball games.”
Pearl will be part of CBS Sports and TNT Sports' joint coverage of the NCAA Tournament, calling select games and providing studio coverage.
