Brooks Koepka leaves LIV Golf after 4 years

After months of speculation, Brooks Koepka's time with LIFE Golf officially ended.

The tour announced on Tuesday that five-time major winner will no longer play for the Saudi League after joining it in 2022.

“We have mutually agreed that Brooks Koepka will no longer compete in the LIV Golf League after the 2025 season,” the tour said in a statement. “Brooks prioritizes the needs of his family and stays close to home. We appreciate the significant impact he has had on the game and wish him continued success both on and off the field.”

Koepka's representatives said he was deeply grateful to Yasser Al-Rumayyan, Scott O'Neill and LIV Golf management, his teammates “and the fans,” citing time with family as the reason for his departure.

“Family has always driven Brooks' decisions and he feels now is the right time to spend more time at home. Brooks will continue to be a strong supporter of LIV Golf and wishes the league and its players continued success. Brooks remains passionate about the game of golf and will keep fans updated on what's ahead,” the statement said.

It remains to be seen whether Koepka will return to PGA tourbut the Tour released a statement following Koepka's departure from LIV, seemingly trying to take a jab at his rival.

“Brooks Koepka is a highly accomplished professional and we wish him and his family continued success. The PGA Tour continues to offer top professional golfers the most competitive, challenging and rewarding environment in which they can strive for greatness,” the tour says.

There have been persistent rumors that Koepka has been experiencing buyer's remorse since joining LIV Golf in what he admitted was a nine-figure deal. Koepka was one of the first big names to join the Saudi-funded tour, admitting at the 2023 Masters that his injuries was instrumental in the move, which guaranteed a huge salary.

Back in March, Koepka admitted that he “didn't know where I was going” when his contract ended.

Kopka took world of golf took it by storm a few years ago, winning four majors in two years. However, injuries kept him out of action for a long time. After rupturing his patellar tendon, he lost his dominant form, winning just one tournament in three years before moving to LIV, often finding himself outside the cut line.

He joined LIV after missing out on 2022 Masters and finished tied for 55th and 55th at the PGA Championship and US Open that year. Koepka perked up in 2023, winning the PGA Championship just a month after finishing second at The Masters, earning him a spot on that year's Ryder Cup team.

However, his best finish at a major since 2024 was his T-12 at this year's U.S. Open at Oakmont. It was his only top-25 finish at a major during that period, and he missed the other three finishes.
