Broccoli florets recalled because of Salmonella

Fresh Market brand broccoli florets are recalled in Canada due to salmonella contamination. The recall was initiated when testing by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency revealed contamination.

The recalled broccoli florets were distributed in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

Consumers can identify the recalled product by looking for the following information on the label of the 907 gram plastic bags: UPC number 6 27735 27054 8, BBD code number 2025-NO-26 and lot number 25318.

Food contaminated with salmonella bacteria usually does not look spoiled, does not smell or taste. Anyone can get salmonellosis. According to the CDC, infants, children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious illness because their immune systems are fragile.
