Broadway ushered in the New Year with reason to be in high spirits, with 33 productions grossing an impressive total. US$52,037,125. About 24 shows were sold out (or partially sold out), and only one had less than 90% of available seats filled. More on this later.
While the $52 million mark is 4% lower than the previous week and about 7% lower than the same period (Week 32) last year, these drops reflect the always lucrative Christmas week highs (Christmas fell in Week 32 last season).
Some notable achievements for the week ending January 4, 2026 include: Oh mom!playing the best week of its limited run at the Winter Garden Theatre, grossing the box office. US$2,594,204 for nine performances. The engagement ends on February 1st.
A new record has been set for the number of performances at Minskoff. Lion Kingcash US$3,145,899. This figure marks the 34th house record set by the musical.
Total attendance for 33 shows was 313 513approximately even with the previous week and the previous season.
Two performances – Beetlejuice And Waiting for Godot – closed last week, the demonic musical earned a big profit of $311,282 over the previous week, taking US$1,373,691 and sold 96% of its seats. GodotStarring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, it was once again a sold-out film, grossing the box office. US$1,549,152.
In addition to Oh mom!Lion King And Godotthere were other sales this week And Juliet, Aladdin, Buena Vista Social Club, Chess, Death Becomes Her, Hadestown, Hamilton, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Just in Time, Mama Mia!, Marjorie Prime, Maybe a Happy Ending, MJ, Moulin Rouge, Oh Mary!, Operation Mincemeat, Ragtime, The Book of Mormon, The Great Gatsby, The Outsiders And Wicked.
The leaders in earnings for the week were Hamilton, US$3,332,754; Wicked, US$3,286,525; Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, US$3,270,719; Lion King; Oh mom!; Aladdin, US$2,155,912; And Stranger Things: The First Shadow US$2,001,639.
ErrorThe non-professional Manhattan Theater Club's production of the play by Tracy Letts, starring Carrie Coon and Nahmir Smallwood, received acclaim. US$446,806 for eight previews, filling 96% of the seats at Samuel J. Friedman. The premiere will take place on January 8.
Two Strangers (Carrying a Cake Through New York)The critically acclaimed two-person musical has been in strong demand at Longacre, filling around 90% of seats, up from 81% the previous week. For nine performances Two strangers collected at the box office $885,968.
While great Liberation There has been some improvement in attendance – 66% compared to 52% the previous week – but figures remain below average. Eight performances took place at the James Earl Jones Theater US$424,723.
With a total average ticket price of $165.98Four productions topped the $200 mark and one topped $300. The top tickets were Hamilton V $310.49followed by Just in time ($281.22), Harry Potter ($252.06), Lion King ($234.09) And Wicked ($213.30).
Currently in week 32 of the 2025/26 season, Broadway has grossed US$1,199,642,229 currently about 10% more than last year in total attendance 8 844 829 up to 3%.
