Chris Van Dusen is entering a whole new life. ton. According to Deadline, Bridgerton creator replaces Pretty Little Liars creator I. Marlene King as showrunner Calabasas. Last year, Deadline reported that Netflix has acquired a scripted series from executive producers Kim Kardashian, Emma Roberts and King. After a year of development, King leaves the project. Deadline says Kardashian is a household name Bridgerton fan, so it's entirely possible that she's the one behind this behind-the-scenes shakeup.
The project is Kardashian's latest foray into film and television after starring in Ryan Murphy's lead legal drama. Everything is fair on Hulu. Kim also starred with Murphy in the final season of the series. American Horror Story with Roberts. It's almost surprising that Murphy won't be joining the show either. But he hasn't acted in a straight teen drama since then. Popularso maybe it's not that surprising. Kardashian has also since signed on to star in an upcoming comedy written by Paula Pell. Calabasas based on the 2021 book by Via Bleidner. If you lived here you'd already be famousa collection of essays about her experience transferring from a private Catholic school to a Calabasas high school. Published when Bleidner was 21, the essays describe the culture shock of growing up in a Los Angeles suburb known for its Kardashian connections, and the book's synopsis mentions stories such as “Kim Kardashian Maintains Students' Favorite Hidden Lunch Spot” and “Kanye Tries to Take Control of Your School to Make It the Very First YEEZY.” So it looks like if Kardashian wants to add the series to her acting resume, she'll have to play herself.
