Randy Pitchford wants to channel his inner Hideo Kojima (known for scanning real people, and maybe even a ghostinto your games) by putting a real fan in it Borderland 4.
Transmission The software boss recently took on social media share a story about how he was “in Australia going through airport security” and “the guy at the body scanner stopped me and said, 'Has anyone ever told you that you look like Randy Pitchford?'
He then asked online users for help in locating the worker: “It was at Cairns Airport about 8.20am on October 10th Australian time on a body scanner. If anyone can find this guy and encourage him to contact me.” Why? Because he wants to “make an NPC or a gun or a side quest after him” since he “made my day.”
“I wish I could stand up faster and say something like, 'Look at my shirt!?!' But I just said, 'I'm Randy Pitchford,'” he continued. “He asked me to shake my hand and then made me go through the scanner again because he didn't like my shirt.”
Borderlands 4 is, of course, replete with references, deep cuts and Easter eggs – you can even throwing shade at the former owners of the Gearbox corporation – but having a real person involved in the creation of their in-game counterpart is a stupid move by Kojima, as he often puts his favorite celebrities, game creators and VTubers into your games.
