Bo Nix faces fear of dogs after viral encounter with ESPN star’s pet

Quarterback Denver Broncos Bo Nix faced my anxiety about dogs at Christmas.

Earlier this year ESPN and Amazon Prime Video TV personality Kirk Herbstreit Beloved dog Peter received what some fans thought was the cold shoulder from the second-year NFL quarterback.

Before the Broncos picked up their 12th win in their last 13 games, Herbstreit organized a reunion between his dog and Nix.

“We should have done this with @bonix10 after last time @nflonprime #peter” Herbstreit signed Instagram post showing the NFL star and a golden retriever, along with two laughing emojis.

Nix faced some backlash for his actions when he first met Peter, with some observers accusing the quarterback of neglecting the dog.

After making peace with Peter during their reunion, the 25-year-old caller took a moment to share details about the origins of his less-than-stellar take on dogs.

“I just think when I was little I was attacked by one of them and I didn't know anything,” Nix told Herbstreit. “My family didn’t grow up with them. My whole family isn't really a dog family. We had one when I was a kid and then she died and we never got a new one.”

The word “dogs” has been associated with the Knicks and Broncos this season. Earlier this year, Knicks coined the term “overdog” after Denver upset the Green Bay Packers in Week 15.

“We’re underdogs now,” Nix told a reporter after the 34-26 win.

Since then he has launched Overdogs Clothing line. Proceeds from the fundraiser benefited the Denver Rescue Mission, an organization that strives to “end homelessness in the Denver metro and Northern Colorado,” according to its website.

Broncos defeated Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day to improve to 13-3 and extend its lead over the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC West. Denver will host Los Angeles in Week 18 in the final matchup of the regular season.
