For a week starting this Friday at noon, the now iconic sofa will be on display in the hotel lobby, providing a permanent photo op for fans and hotel guests. It will include a competition for fans to win a Jays package for the 2026 season that includes tickets and a hotel room overlooking the field.

The connection between Barger and Schneider is one of many on a team that came within two outs of winning the third World Series title in franchise history.

“I love this team,” Schneider wrote in his post, which included several celebratory photos over the past month. “The people in this organization are some of the greatest people I have ever known.

“I loved coming to the park every day and sharing this stupid childhood game with all the people I call my best friends. Such a selfless group of braggarts who love to just play baseball with each other at the highest level.”

“Not the result we wanted or hoped for, but damn, what a year. I love every guy in this club. We went to work every day and gave it our all. The fans, the city, the whole country made this year special and I'm always grateful to play for the fans who embody what true fans are.”

“I'm very fortunate to play for this city and for Canada. I'm proud to be a Blue Jay.”

And perhaps even more proud of the fact that they created a sofa bed in a hotel that has long been tied to the team – for the fans who stayed in rooms overlooking the field, and for the many players who spent extended stays there during the season.

“This story captures everything we love about the Blue Jays and their incredible season, our city, teamwork and passion,” Julie Shorrock, regional director of sales and marketing for Marriott, said in a press release. “And some good humor.

“We are so proud of the Blue Jays for giving us so much to celebrate this year, and we invite fans to share in a fun moment in baseball history.”
