Blue Jays force Game 7 in ALCS with 6-2 win

TORONTO — Addison Barger and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. scored to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 6-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series.

As a result, a decisive Game 7 will take place Monday night at Rogers Center. The winner will face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.

Blue Jays starter Trey Yesavage (2-1) had seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. He allowed two earned runs, three walks and six hits before leaving to a standing ovation from the sold-out crowd of 44,764.

The Blue Jays tagged Seattle rookie Logan Gilbert (1-1) for a pair of runs in the second inning and scored two more in the third when Barger went deep.

Gilbert was pulled after Guerrero started the fifth inning with a single. Josh Naylor of Mississauga, Ont., hit a solo homer in Seattle's two-run sixth.

Guerrero scored again in the seventh off a wild pitch from Matt Brush of Kingston, Ont. Guerrero made his way to third base, and a throwing error by catcher Cal Raleigh allowed him to race home.

Blue Jays pitcher Louis Varland recorded four strikeouts and closer Jeff Hoffman worked the final two innings.

The road team won the first four games of the series before Seattle beat Toronto 6-2 on Friday at T-Mobile Park.


The Blue Jays are looking to make their first World Series appearance since 1993. The Mariners never made it to the Fall Classic.
