SSDs, like memory, have risen in price since last year. Artificial intelligence data centers are to blame. Their demand overwhelmed supply.
Unlike previous years, Black Friday isn't just a time for great deals. This may be your last chance for a while to get any seems like a decent deal. And retailers are not waiting for prices to start falling. They want your money now before competitors tempt you to blow your holiday shopping budget.
But, as usual, not every discount is good. To save as much money as possible, it helps to know how and where to shop, so to help, we've compiled a list of the best deals, as well as shopping tips. You'll find both below. At the moment, when the number of deals begins to be concluded, only a few of them are worthwhile. But we expect to see more as we get closer to the end of November.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is Black Friday?
In 2025, Black Friday will occur on November 28th. But, as usual, discounts start earlier. Waiting until the actual date may cause you to miss out on good deals as deals may sell out.
What should I look for when purchasing an SSD on Black Friday?
A reliable Black Friday deal will get you a discount on an SSD from a trusted and well-known brand. The ideal discount starts at around 15 to 20 percent, with great sales driving prices down even further, but these days, with SSD prices rising, anything closer to last year's prices is a good deal.
Brands to watch include Samsung, Crucial, Corsair, SK Hynix, Western Digital (also known as WD), Kingston, Solidigm and Teamgroup. The further you go, the more likely you are to end up with inefficient (i.e. slow) drives.
Also pay attention to the model for sale. Typically there will be a discount on more than one capacity, but not all price reductions will be a good deal.
What are the best SSD deals early on Black Friday?
At the moment, the best deals are concentrated in the 1 TB to 2 TB range. If you need 4TB drives, the price reduction will be negligible, as will drives 500GB and below.
Which SSDs does PCWorld rate the most?
PCWorld regularly tests and reviews new SSDs. If you want to know what we recommend, check out our ratings best SSDs of 2025. During Black Friday, some of them will likely go on sale, although perhaps not to the same extent as other drives.
