Mickey Lee participant of the 27th season of the series “Big Brother”died. She was 35.
Lee's family announced the news in a statement they posted on her verified Instagram account on December 26.
“It is with great sadness that Mickey Lee's family announces her passing on Christmas Day early this evening. “Mickey captured the hearts of viewers across the country with her appearance on 'Big Brother,' where her authenticity, strength and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike,” the statement said.
“She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many people and for the genuine connections she formed both on and off screen,” it continued. “The family expresses their deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness is felt and truly appreciated.”
At the end of the statement, Lee's family asked social media users to “maintain privacy during this critical time of loss.” They added that they would share details about Lee's memorial services and events at a later date.
The news of Lee's death came just days after her family said Lee suffered a “series of cardiac arrests” due to complications from the flu. IN statement dated December 22, Lee's family said she was admitted to the intensive care unit “in critical but stable condition.” The family has also set up a GoFundMe to help cover her medical expenses.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Harvard Health PublishingStudies have shown that after a bout of influenza, the risk of cardiovascular disease increases.
“A growing body of research suggests that influenza virus infection itself may put people at increased risk of acute cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke,” according to a page on the CDC website.
Lee, an Atlanta-based events curator, competed on Season 27 of “Big Brother,” which aired from July to September 2025. She was the eighth housemate to be evicted from the show.
Fellow contestant Rachel Reilly mourned Lee in the comments section, writing: “Sorry for your loss and praying for your family. RIP MICKEY, you are missed – love to you all.”
