With school holidays approaching; cold, wet and (let's face it, No snowy days with the kids home are approaching. That means it'll soon be time for a cozy Christmas movie or two.
First up: Classics. I thought I'd try this on them as an experiment to see if it would work because for me Mary Poppins is untouchable and can do no harm.
Then I tried something that I admit I usually avoid; We're making a NEW modern Christmas movie. Enter… It's Christmas.
Just when I thought it couldn't be beat, we tried Angela's Christmas. This one had me in a chokehold.
In the same spirit Netflix Scrooge: A Christmas Carol gave us the familiar warmth we're used to in Christmas movies, with just enough vibrancy to keep young minds interested.
Now I need those who have children to share their experiences on this, but I tried Snowman One noisy morning I had to SILENCE the entire movie.
Alternatively, if you're looking for a slightly more chaotic but oh so festive Christmas TV series, Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas was another hit.
Unfortunately for us '90s kids, there are some of our favorites that aren't yet suitable for little ones. I mean, I can't possibly subject them to Marv and Harry from Home aloneCan?! And even Elf And Miracle on 34th Street include scenes that will not capture the child's imagination. Having said this, Grinch became an idol in their eyes.
