Bengal King Jhal Chanachur treats recalled because of undeclared peanuts

South Asian Food Inc. Maspeth, Queens, New York is recalling King of Bengal Jal Chanachur treats because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People with peanut allergies are at risk of severe or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.

The recalled books of King Jal Chanachur of Bengal were distributed throughout the country through retail stores and by mail. The product comes in clear 12.34 oz (350 g) plastic jars with Lot B #HCNCU1205/24 on the top and a June-2026 expiration date on the side. Product UPC code: 8941153046243.

To date, there have been no reported illnesses or allergic reactions associated with this product.

The recall was initiated after New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors took samples and subsequent analysis by food laboratory staff revealed that the product containing peanuts was distributed in packaging that did not detect the presence of peanuts.
