Beat Sexü Are Here to Stay on ‘Dernière chance’ │ Exclaim!

Duo from Quebec Bit Sexy (composed of Jean-Etienne Colin Marcoux and Jean-Michel Letendre-Veilleux) released their fifth album Last chance – you can listen to it today.

Produced by Marcoux, the album is the band's most exploratory and personal work to date and marks a return to their early electronic and post-punk influences. Last chance features nine distinct tracks with unique personalities – the standout “JJJMPTJJ” embodies the duo's many influences, as well as the bold and playful spirit of playing long, while also reflecting the obsessive thoughts of an introvert trying to fit into the group with his mantra.

Beat Sexü shared that the music of “JJJMPTJJ” was inspired by house, experimental hip-hop and afrobeats, which is “built on syncopated and boldly processed drums, upon which lies a sloppy and languid bass line.”

“The melodies, harmonies, and vocals utilize sonic artifacts, experimental music production techniques, and glitches to create a dark and wacky soundscape,” the band shared in a press release. “The general idea is don't worry too much, just dance… Because with the right attitude, everything will work out.”

The duo will be touring with their new album and two upcoming festival appearances. Pantum in Quebec (November 1) And L'Escogriffe in Montreal (November 8). You can buy tickets for performances Here.
