A wet and wild Monday night game between the team Chicago Bears and the Washington Commanders turned into a thriller between two of the oldest teams in the NFL.

Commanders cornerback Jayden Daniels fumbled a pass late in the fourth quarter and allowed the Bears defense to recover. Caleb Williams and D'Andre Swift led the charge down the field and set up Jake Moody's field goal attempt. It was Moody's first day in the lineup as the team signed him to replace the injured Cairo Santos.

Moody, with three seconds left and constant fog, kicked a 38-yard field goal to give the Bears a 25-24 victory. With the win, Chicago improved to 3-2 while the Commanders fell to 3-3.

The Bears jumped out to a 13-0 lead at the half. Moody seemed to be in good shape. He made two field goals and Caleb Williams scored a touchdown to start the second quarter.

The Commanders snatched the Bears' lead when Daniels threw a 22-yard pass to Chris Moore. Washington scored more points on an eight-play, 25-yard drive in the third quarter that ended with a Matt Gay field goal.

After Moody kicked his third field goal of the night, the Bears' offense quieted down.

Daniels had back-to-back scoring leads late in the third quarter and early in the fourth. He found Luke McCaffrey for a 33-yard touchdown pass and then threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz.

Williams and the Bears didn't stick around too long. The sophomore quarterback hit Swift with a short pass. Swift missed several Commanders defenders and rushed for a 55-yard touchdown. Chicago missed the two-point conversion and lost by two points.

Moody was on point in his field goal attempts despite one being blocked.

He was cut by the San Francisco 49ers just weeks into the 2025 season, despite having a place in the record books during Super Bowl LVIII.

According to ESPN, Moody turned around and etched his name in the Bears record books by making the most field goals in a Bears debut with four.

“It's always good to start over. I've always believed in myself, believed in my teammates. Shout out to (long snapper Scott Daly) and (holder Tory Taylor). They made my operation a lot easier. Same with the (offensive) line up front, playing great defense in the last one. You couldn't put it together better,” he told ESPN's Lisa Salters.

Williams was 17 of 29 passing for 252 yards and a touchdown pass. He completed passes to eight different receivers. Swift led the team with two catches for 67 yards. Luther Bearden III had four catches for 51 yards.

Swift also had 14 carries for 108 yards.
