Be Afraid Media Launches with Acquisition of Dread Central

Be Afraid Media, an indie horror banner, launched Tuesday after acquiring genre news outlet Dread Central.

Dread Central is a digital media publication covering horror films, television, and fandom since 2006. The company's acquisition of Be Afraid comes ahead of Dread Central's 20th anniversary.

Be Afraid is led by Brad Miska, founder of the horror production studio. fucking disgusting and producer of “Terror 3” and the “V/H/S” franchise. He runs the company with his siblings Heather and Peter Luttrell, who previously worked in digital media and advertising and co-founded IndieClick.

“Dread Central has been a trusted name in the horror industry for nearly two decades,” Miska said. “Our goal is to expand reach and accessibility while maintaining the integrity and independence that audiences value.”

“There is no team better suited to lead Dread Central,” said John Condit, co-founder of Dread Central. “They understand the genre, respect audiences, and have the experience to lead Dread into the next era. I look forward to seeing what the future holds under their leadership.”

As part of the acquisition, Be Afraid also acquired DreadTV, FAST's horror movie channel, and signed a multi-year streaming distribution deal with Epic Pictures.
