Get ready to fight your friends in Battlewrights
Battlewrights appeared in the official Deutsche Indie Showcase presented by 1UP Media, where developer Florian Malogajskite presented a brand new trailer featuring never-before-seen gameplay footage. The showcase gave players a closer look at the fast-paced chaos and polished mechanics that characterize this local multiplayer brawler. The newly released trailer showcases fresh combat moments, clever movement options, and tight arena designs that encourage constant action.
Along with the trailer reveal, the team confirmed a slight change in the release schedule. Battlewrights will release on January 15, 2026 after a month delay. The developers shared that the extra time will help polish the features and ensure a smoother launch. More updates and announcements are expected as development continues.
Battlewrights focuses on accessible but skill-intensive combat for two to four players in local multiplayer. The controls remain intentionally simple. Players throw their weapon with one button press, and then press again to recall it. Matches are based on smart positioning, quick reactions and precise timing, with the last player standing winning. All characters have the same basic abilities, ensuring fair competition and rewarding skill.
Advanced techniques add depth to players who want more. Throwing a weapon into the air triggers a throw jump, which naturally combines with wall jumping to reach higher platforms. Well-timed dodges allow players to dodge incoming weapons and instantly counterattack. Charged throws, perfect throws, dodges and powerful moves can turn the tide of a match in a matter of seconds.
In addition to multiplayer battles, Battlewrights includes a time trial mode designed to practice movement skills. Players can chase bronze, silver and gold awards or aim for the demanding Developer Medal. With four characters and a variety of color options, the game captures the spirit of classic couch multiplayer while pushing your reflexes and friendships to the limit.
