If the pace of a first-person shooter is too much for your fatigued reflexes, take heart: Electronic Arts Buttlefield 6 adds “Random Breakout”, a mode where most human players are replaced by bots, but this doesn't really impact the experience gain.
A new addition to the crazy shooter simulator was announced over the weekend on the website Battlefield social media channelswhich attracted thousands of comments both for and against the new regime.
Essentially, Casual Breakthrough mode limits the number of actual human players to 8 on each team, with 32 bots split evenly between the two sides. In other words, 8 players will be teamed up with 16 bots who will presumably just shoot and capture targets without “making tea” or otherwise telling you how much you suck or insulting your parents.
So far, EA has also left “XP” progression untouched, leaving some human players foaming at the mouth over how it will compare to more “normal” progression. Human players in Casual Breakthrough will still be able to earn experience in Career, Weapon, and Battle Pass modes, as well as complete missions. Players will also gain experience from human actions, although bot actions will provide “reduced experience,” EA said.
What players there won't be Receive are “tokens” and “praises”, and career stat updates will not be reflected in the new mode.
Surprisingly (not really) some players were outraged.
“So you've made all my legal gun sharpening pointless,” one of them said. wrote. “What's the point of working on anything at all? It's not like FIFA or COD, where there's a new one every year, the work has to last a long time. Why simplify everything on the plate? Honestly, it turned me off from the whole game.”
Others took a more pragmatic view.
“What about new players who can't play until Christmas or whatever, they just have to deal with bullying from players like you who have been playing since day one? If you don't want to play it, then no one is forcing you to play in this mode,” another commenter. added.
Controversial game updates usually come with a promise to keep up with the changes, and EA appears to be moving in that direction as well. “Let us know what you think of the new regime,” the firm wrote. “We will monitor your feedback to determine whether further adjustments will be needed in the future.”
Looking back, it seems like EA announced the new mode right from the start. After all, you can drive a golf cart, right?
