Barry Manilow to Have Lung Cancer Surgery, Reschedules 2026 Concerts

Singer Barry Manilow He announced Monday that he will undergo surgery to remove a cancerous spot on his lung that was discovered after he finished a string of Christmas concerts.

Manilov said that after six weeks of treatment for bronchitis and a five-week relapse, he went to the doctor for an examination. It was there that a doctor discovered “a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed,” but Manilov assured his fans that he would not have to undergo chemotherapy or a very long recovery process.

“The bad news is that now that the Christmas A Gift of Love concerts are over, I'm having surgery to remove the spot,” he wrote on Instagram. “The doctors don't believe the disease has spread, so I'm getting tests to confirm the diagnosis. That's it. No chemotherapy. No radiation. Just chicken soup and reruns of I Love Lucy.”

He added: “The only time limit is a month to recover, which means we will have to reschedule the January shows.”

He also announced that some of his upcoming concert dates in 2026 will have to be rescheduled to accommodate surgery and recovery.

“I'm so sorry you had to change your plans. Like you, we were all looking forward to the January shows and hated having to change everything,” he wrote. “In the meantime, I'm counting down the days until I return to my home away from home at Westgate Las Vegas for our Valentine's Day shows on February 12-13-14 and throughout 2026.”

On a lighter note, he added: “I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year. And remember, if you have even the slightest symptom…get tested! See you at Westgate Las Vegas on Valentine's Day!”
