Barry Manilow reveals ‘cancerous spot’ found on his lung – National

Barry Manilow reported that he was recovering after discovering a “cancerous spot” on his lung.

The 82-year-old singer shared a statement on Instagram on Monday, announcing that he would have to postpone his current farewell tour.

Copacabana The singer said he will need to take a break as he undergoes surgery to remove a “cancerous spot.”

“We just wrapped up five amazing Christmas concerts at the McCallum Theater in Palm Desert. This is the seventh time we've hosted these benefit concerts and raised millions for nonprofits throughout the Coachella Valley,” he began. “Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and celebrated these wonderful charity events.

“As many of you know, I recently experienced six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse for another five weeks. Even though I recovered from the bronchitis and returned to the stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure everything was okay.”

Mandy the singer said an MRI revealed a cancerous spot on his left lung and shared that the spot “needs to be removed.”

“It's pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was caught so early. That's the good news. The bad news is that now that the Christmas A Gift of Love concerts are over, I'm having surgery to remove the spot. The doctors don't believe it has spread and I'm getting tests to confirm their diagnosis,” he wrote.

“That's it. No chemistry. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I love Lucy Reruns,” Manilow said in his health report. “The only thing that needs to be done is a month to recover, which means we will have to reschedule our January arena shows.”

“I’m really sorry you had to change your plans,” he added. “Like you, we were all looking forward to the January shows and hated moving everything.”

Manilow said he will return to Westgate Las Vegas for Valentine's Day shows on February 12, 13 and 14 and throughout 2026.

“I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year. And remember: if you have even the slightest symptom…get tested!” he completed his fast.

Manilow shared rescheduled dates for his tour, which includes shows in Charleston, Orlando, Tampa and other cities.
