A 19-year-old man, who is prohibited from driving, was arrested Thursday morning in Hamilton after police said he rammed officers' vehicles in an attempt to escape.

Police said troopers responded at approximately 6:20 a.m. to reports of a man passed out behind the wheel of a red Dodge Ram pickup truck parked with the engine running at a townhome complex near Upper Wentworth Street and Stonechurch Road. E.
“Officers determined that the registered owner of the vehicle was a prohibited driver known to police for violence and fleeing law enforcement,” police said in a statement Friday.
“Patrol units locked the vehicle and then approached and knocked on the driver's window. The man eventually woke up and attempted to flee, crashing into two police vehicles in the process.”

Police say officers had to break the car window to pull the driver out and arrest him.
During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located and seized a loaded 9mm handgun with 10 rounds of ammunition.
Nation Oniya, of Hamilton, is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited loaded firearm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with conditions of probation.
Police said the accused is against bail.
