Avatar: Fire and Ash is just around the corner, and it looks like it will be even bigger than The Way of Water – and may even include an unlikely alliance.
“Quartitch hates Jake, but he's discovered that it's not so easy for him to blow them all out of the water,” said producer Jamie Landau. SFX magazine. “Forming this alliance with the People of Ash really raises the stakes. We've seen Jake go up against the RDA forces, but they're mostly heavily armed people. But what happens when someone who knows [Na'vi] battle tactics now left to human weapons? The level of action we can see in this film is significantly higher than in The Way of Water, which was already an action spectacle.”
The new film introduces us to the fearsome People of the Ashes, a fiery clan led by Oona Chaplin's fearsome Warang. “[Oona] was able to come with some of our movement experts and learn some of the basics of Na'vi,” Landau said. “But then she took her own approach to it and we all followed suit. You don't see this in other clans, but all of Ash's people try to stay below her eye level and look up to her. Zoe [Saldaña] – who truly set the standard for the Omaticaya movement since she was our main character and was cast first in the first film – truly leads with her heart. In the case of Varang, Una chose to lead directly from the pelvis. It’s a strong choice and she’s simply mesmerizing to watch.”
