Avalanche to wear Nordiques jerseys for seven games this season

As part of its 30th anniversary season Colorado Avalanche Let's pay tribute to the team's time north of the border.

The Avalanche announced Tuesday that they will wear special Quebec Nordiques jerseys for seven regular-season games this season.

This isn't the first time the Avalanche have worn Nordiques-themed jerseys, as they will for the 2021 season.

But this season, the jersey will feature a classic blue, red and white color palette, inspired by the flag of France and symbolizing the importance of Quebec's French-Canadian roots.

The Nordiques were first created in 1972–73 as part of the World Hockey Association. They joined the NHL as a result of the NHL-WHA merger in 1978–79.

In 16 seasons in Quebec, the team reached the conference finals twice.

The Nordiques moved to Colorado for the 1995–96 season and won the Stanley Cup in their first season as the Avalanche.

  • March 16, 2026 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
  • April 1, 2026 vs. Vancouver Canucks
  • April 11, 2026 vs. Vegas Golden Knights.
