I woke up this morning in that weird post-Cyber Monday haze where you think all the great deals have packed their bags and disappeared. It turns out not. The stores are still absolutely lousy with discounts. If you're anything like me, you might want to get back to the store before the stores realize the deals should have ended days ago. Lots of things to catch if you're quick!

In retro news, I use a Marine Corps HECU welding torch to light a 26-candle cake baked for Half-Life: Opposing Forcea brutal expansion that cast me in 1999 as a Marine caught in the same Black Mesa disaster, with a whole new perspective. I can't overstate how cool it was to watch bowel movements meet hesitation from perhaps a crazier perspective.
Playing as Adrian Shepard meant taking on familiar Xen horrors (as well as new Race X horrors and CIA assassins) in unfamiliar ways, teaming up with AI squadmates, and wielding unusual weapons that added a special flavor to gunfights. Oppositing Force didn't just add layers. It proved that expansions could be ambitious, story-rich, and mechanically amazing, and for many of us, it was the moment when Half-Life stopped being GOTY and started becoming an in-universe.

Legitimate LEGO Deals
just like me did this last holiday seasonI'm celebrating with a LEGO section. At Matthew Manor my sons and I are racing/ranking the 2025 batch again. LEGO Advent Calendars. Basically, we open The City, Harry Potter, Minecraft and Star Wars every day and compare the mini trophies for Awesomeness and Real Christmas. The 2024 winner was Lego Marvel, but surprisingly there is no 2025 equivalent. So this year it's anyone's race.
Here are the cheapest prices for the four calendars we use. Check them out for yourself or simply live through our unboxings.
