ATLA’s Zach Tyler Eisen Reflects On 20 Years Of Avatar Aang

Buzzfeed: You worked on the East Coast while many of the actors were in Los Angeles. What was the experience like?

Zack: I've always been apart from the rest of the cast, and I'm used to it. Other programs I've worked on also work this way. I think I only had one session with another actor the whole time I worked on the show.

I didn't necessarily have a natural back and forth as if we were all in the same room together, but the credit goes to Andrea. [Romano] for being my scene partner. She knew exactly how the others would react. She had to be every other character and make sure it all sounded coherent. I think she did a great job! People are always surprised when they hear it because it sounds so coherent. So again, thank you Andrea!

BuzzFeed: When did you first meet the actors in person?

Zack: The first time I met the rest of the cast was at the season one premiere party. The first season was finished and we had a big party at Nickelodeon Studios in Burbank. This is one of mine Darling memories from the whole show, finally meeting all these wonderful actors. Music was played by drummers and Sifu Kisu, a martial artist, gave demonstrations of bending styles. It was the first time and I don't think I got to see them again until the final party a few years later.

Now that I'm an adult, hosting these conventions was special—I can actually call these people my friends. I love them all! Now we can spend some time together and that was special for me.
