Upcoming Assassin's Creed games are never too far away. damn, even earlier Assassin's Creed Shadows came out nine months ago Ubisoft have spoken publicly about a number of other games in development on the horizon. But what wisdom would one of Shadows' lead developers give to the numerous other teams currently working on the stealth-strike series?
“Put more emphasis on parkour in future games as its own pillar,” Ubisoft Quebec and Assassin's Creed Shadows deputy game director Simon Lemay-Comtois said of the biggest lesson learned from the game's production in Japan, according to extensive interview with GamesRadar+this site is here.
Lemay-Comtois noted that Assassin's Creed's signature parkour seems to have faded into the background in the Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla series of role-playing games. Part of this is because these huge open worlds aren't as dense with climbable architecture as the old Assassin's Creed games; instead there are miles of ancient Greek oceans or Egyptian dunes between urban jungle gyms.
“We're trying to fix that after launching Shadows and push that idea internally, saying parkour matters,” Lemay-Comtois continued. “Let’s really push parkour forward.”
Next up is Assassin's Creed Jade, which is said to be the first open-world game in the series for mobile devices, and Hex codename for Assassin's Creedwhich looks like a slightly creepier take on the formula from Ubisoft Montreal's stewards of Valhalla. There were also unofficial rumors about a remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag for several months. We'll see if any of them get more of a focus on parkour when (or maybe if) they come out.
“Hope is not lost” for Assassin's Creed Shadows, which will follow Mirage's lead and add the fan-favorite manual jump in a post-launch update.
