When Lily Collins and Ashley Park met while filming Emily in Paris, they may not have imagined that their on-screen friendship would turn into a strong real-life bond.
The co-stars now call themselves best friends, and Park even played a special role in Collins' wedding to Charlie McDowell in 2021.
“Ashley sang at our wedding,” Collins told TODAY's Jill Martin during interview in Venice while promoting the fifth season of his hit Netflix series.
“It was a really meaningful part of the ceremony, and it was probably the most nerve-wracking and rewarding part of a ceremony that I've ever experienced,” Park, who is also a Tony Award nominee, told TODAY.com in a separate interview.
“Her voice was absolutely stunning,” Collins added.
Puck who played by Mindy Chen in Emily in Paris, she first met her co-star-turned-best friend when Collins recently started dating her now-husband.
“I saw her get engaged, then get married, and now she's a mom. For me, I can't believe we can do this. And yes, we're in Venice, but it's really great to spend time with your best friend,” she told Martin.
Collins feels the same way and said she developed a strong connection with Park immediately after meeting her.
“It was a magnetic experience right away—like a sisterhood of souls,” she said.
For Collins, being able to share the success of Emily in Paris with her best friend makes life even sweeter.
“When you do it with your best friend and sister, it becomes a life-changing experience that I don’t think we expected at the time,” she said. “This is more than just a show. It's like this has been our life for six years and we've been through so many ups and downs together that it feels like a celebration of not only season five but of sisterhood and that's really special.”
“We feel so grounded with each other,” Park added.
According to Collins, Collins and Park became so ingrained in each other's lives that they developed an inexplicable connection.
“We always start crying when we get emotional because if (Pac) feels something, then I feel it too. It’s very strange,” she said.
“You were in Copenhagen, like last week, and we talked about something. I can feel any emotion from her, and vice versa. And we feel it even from all over the world,” Park added.
