Start your journey in How I Started to Dream
Strayflux has released hand-drawn puzzle platformer As I Began to Dream on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The team, together with the publisher Soft Source, is preparing a full set of add-ons for the future. It will include an art book, soundtrack, and a physical release planned for 2026.
To celebrate the launch, the developers presented a new trailer edited by David Paterson with an original track composed by JabFina. The video offers an early look at the game's carefully crafted worlds and its clever puzzles. There are also smooth hand-drawn cutscenes that convey the tone of the story.
When I Started to Dream follows Lily, a young girl who finds herself in a dreamlike limbo of memories and emotions. The game combines platforming and puzzles with environments that reflect her inner journey. Each location is based on moments she once experienced, and each challenge challenges her to confront what those memories represent.
Players follow Lily through changing landscapes populated by the mysterious creatures that inhabit this quiet kingdom. You'll meet these characters on your way to the Golden Tower, a distant structure that rises like a guiding light. Helping them strengthens Lily's understanding of the world around her. All the while bringing her closer to the core of her own story.
The game explores themes of grief, loss and acceptance through expressive art and gentle storytelling. Lily's journey shows what brought her to this surreal space and how she moves towards peace with what has shaped her life. Through its puzzles and exploration, As I Began to Dream invites players to experience a story of emotion and imagination. And the constant search for meaning in a world built from memories.
