Representative Adelita GrijalvaDemocrat from Arizona, was sworn in Wednesday as House Speaker Mike Johnson and took the opportunity to blow up the president Donald Trump and Congress.
Speaking to her House colleagues on Wednesday, Grijalva said: “While we celebrate this moment today, our American promise is under grave threat.
“Fundamental freedoms are under threat. Health insurance premiums are skyrocketing. Masked agents are taking children away from their parents. We can and must do better.”
She then blamed Congress for failing to hold the Trump administration accountable for problems including affordable healthcare And immigration raids.
“The most troubling thing is not what this administration has done, but what the majority in this body has failed to do — hold Trump accountable as a branch of government like us,” Grijalva said.

Grijalva also took time to discuss the delay in the swearing-in.
“It has been 50 days since the people of Arizona's 7th Congressional District elected me to represent them. Fifty days have left more than 800,000 Arizonans without access to the essential services every voter deserves.
“This is an abuse of power. One person should not be able to unilaterally prevent a duly elected member of Congress from being sworn in for political reasons,” Grijalva said, clearly offending Johnson.
Johnson has been accused of delaying the ceremony as Grijalva plays a key role in forcing a vote on release documents relating to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The speaker denied such accusations.
Trump administration came under fire earlier this year critics spoke of a lack of transparency when it came to the so-called Epstein files. Some accused Trump of appearing in the documents to explain why the White House was so adamant about disavowing what Trump called a “hoax.”
Earlier Wednesday, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released emails in which Epstein allegedly told longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell that Trump “spent several hours” at his home with one of Epstein's victims.
Asked about this, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said: “These emails prove absolutely nothing other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong.”
Grijalva won a special election on September 23 to fill the seat vacated by the death of her father, former Representative Raúl Grijalva, who died in March during his 12th term in Congress.
This is a developing story…
