The second season of “The Golden Bachelor” has come to an end, with the host Mel Owens knelt and asked Peg Munson to marry him.
The second season of The Golden Bachelor began with 23 women are looking for a soulmate in their golden years and are hoping it will be Mel, a 66-year-old former NFL player who now works as a lawyer.
By the time of the finale on Wednesday, November 12, only two women remained: Peg, a 62-year-old former firefighter and bomb specialist, and Cindy Angelsick Cullers, a 60-year-old former biomedical engineer.

What happened in the second season finale of The Golden Bachelor?
The episode began with a shocker: Cindy decided to withdraw herself after realizing that Mel could not match her feelings. Throughout the trip, she repeatedly said how much she fell in love with Mel.
As she left, Cindy cried alone and said that she thought Mel was right for her. “I hoped so,” she said. “It hurts a lot.”
Mel, meanwhile, said he was “shocked” by Cindy's departure. “I came in tonight thinking there was a future, but she's gone,” he said.
During the After the Final Rose event, Cindy said she didn't feel like she had to “convince a man to love her,” to applause from the audience.
The next day, Mel spoke to Peg and explained that he was not ready to “take over” the offer. This, she said, made her nervous, but she moved forward with meeting with Mel's two sons and his college friend. The meeting went well, everyone agreed that they were suitable for each other.
Mel eventually proposed to Peg. “I trusted you. You trusted me. You told me you were confident that I would make the right choice – and here you are,” he said before showing off the ring.
They decided to determine the future together.
Are Mel and Peg still together?
Mel and Peg showed up to the After the Final Rose special with all smiles. With a kiss, they confirmed that they were in fact still together.
“It's exciting,” Peg said. “We’ll come out and share it.”
Peg said their bond “strengthened” after their time in Antigua, especially during their getaway at Fantasy Suites.
“One thing I can say about Mel: he doesn't have honesty. He is honesty. Let this sink in. That’s what I like about him,” she said.
Mel said the relationship progressed “really, really well” after the show ended. They both stated that they were in love with each other.
“It worked!” said host Jesse Palmer.
