Reports from Bloomberg say dozens of employees could leave the company, a rare move for the iPhone maker.
The affected workers are apparently concentrated in the enterprise, government and academic sectors, potentially signaling a change in Apple's approach in these areas.
Layoffs at Apple?
In a statement for BloombergApple said that in order to “reach even more customers, we are making some changes to our sales team that affect a small number of roles.”
The publication said employees responsible for running Apple's information centers for institutional meetings and product demonstrations to potential customers were also affected, and the recent US government shutdown potentially won't help matters.
The company had approximately 166,000 full-time employees as of September 27, 2025, according to the company's recent financial reports.
Large-scale layoffs seem to have become commonplace in the tech sector lately, with few companies managing to escape unscathed. At the same time, layoffs are a rare occurrence at Apple, which has largely managed to avoid mass layoffs.
