Anthony Hopkins may seem distant to some, but the actor is uncompromising about his only daughter, who broke off contact with him 20 years ago and whom he never saw again: “Move on.”
His daughter Abigail was born in 1968 from his first marriage to Petronella Barker.
Actor Silence of the Lambs admitted that he sent him through his third wife, Stella Arroyave, an invitation to a new meeting.
“My wife Stella sent us an invitation. Not a word in response,” he said New York Times. I told myself, “Okay, good. I wish him the best, but I'm not going to waste my energy on it. If you want to waste your life being offended, go ahead.”
Anthony Hopkins said he decided to put aside his resentment over his daughter's lack of interest in reuniting with him.
“I could hold a grudge against the past, but that's death. You don't live,” he added. We have to admit one thing: We're not perfect. We're not saints. We're all sinners and saints, no matter who we are. We do the best we can. Life is painful. Sometimes people get hurt.”
However, Anthony Hopkins added that ultimately the only way to move forward is to move on. “Sometimes we get hurt, but we can't live like that. You have to tell yourself that you need to deal with it. And if you can't deal with it, it's too bad, good luck to you,” he said.
In 2006, 57-year-old Abigail said Telegraph that she rarely saw her father when she was a child. “I saw him, but maybe once a year,” she said. There is a little sadness, but we must continue to live our lives.
