and Roger, a point-and-click lifestyle mystery visual novel from solo developer and publisher TearyHand Studio. Laboratory of Kodansha authorsreceived widespread acclaim after launching earlier this year on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch. The game received the “Emotional Impact” award at Six One Indie's Indie Game Awards, which was a major milestone.
In addition to his award, Roger has also been longlisted for a BAFTA Award in the Acting Outside of Entertainment category for the 2026 awards. To celebrate these achievements, PC players can purchase the game with a 20% discount until January 5th.
The story begins as an ordinary morning, but events quickly take an alarming turn. A young girl discovers a strange man relaxing quietly in her family's home. Even though he doesn't belong here, he acts like he's always been a part of her life. His relaxed demeanor only adds to the anxiety, especially since he insists that she follow her daily routine and take her medications. As players guide the girl through simple, familiar quests, fragments of truth gradually emerge, revealing clues about the man's identity, her missing father, and the reality behind her circumstances.
and Roger conveys his narrative through interactive moments coupled with high-contrast hand-drawn cartoon visuals that have resonated strongly with players around the world. Fans can also read a behind-the-scenes interview with developer Yona, who discusses the game's art direction, story themes, and creative process.
Reflecting on the award, individual developer Yona shared that this is the first Western award for both Roger and the Kodansha Game Creator Lab, noting that Kodansha's support is essential to the project's success.
