Notably, the deal only applies to the MagSafe-compatible version of the earbuds, with the Lightning version still on sale at the regular price of $229.
What's more, this deal makes the 3rd generation AirPods cheaper than the newest AirPods 4, which starts at $179 (but if you want active noise cancellation, you'll have to fork out $249 instead).
However, the $179 AirPods 4 are very similar to the third-generation headphones, with a few minor differences. AirPods 4 have a new H2 chip, dust resistance, voice isolation, pressure equalization ventilation system and that's it. In fact, the 3rd generation AirPods have longer battery life than the AirPods 4 (six instead of five), so if you don't care about other features, the 3rd generation might be a better option.
