I test a lot of wearables through Lifehacker, and despite all the fancy fitness watches and smartwatches, I generally find that the entry-level models are the most useful option for the average runner or the average person who only wants to track some exercise.

There are plenty of great watches under $250, and with Black Friday deals this week, some have dropped even lower. Here are the best deals on good fitness and running watches you can find right now in this price range.

Best Black Friday Deals on Garmin Forerunners

I think the Forerunner 255 is probably Garmin's best budget option, but it's an older model at the moment. It still gets the job done, but prices can be unpredictable and many of the deals you'll find are for refurbished units. There's nothing wrong with that – just make sure you understand what you're getting. There are two sizes: 41 and 46 millimeters, and each can come with or without music storage. Please note that the 255 features a MIP screen, an older technology has its pros and cons.

Coros has just released the AMOLED Pace 4 and has reduced the price of the MIP Pace 3. Aside from the difference in display type, they have similar features and are a great entry-level watch.
