Battlefield 6 has a rather complex development system, covering 50 levels or more.
Each player, represented by career ranks, begins their journey at rank 1. They progress by gaining experience, and unique opportunities open up at each stage. This includes cosmetics, weapons, equipment and more. Having a clear idea of what you're discovering at each stage will be extremely helpful.

Unlocking all ranks in Battlefield 6
Your path to career rank begins at Rank 1 when you begin gaining experience. You can earn XP by playing on community maps in multiplayer mode or on a verified portal. Every action you take during a match will help you gain XP.

Whenever you open any cosmetic items or attachments, you will find them in your unloading. Weapons will also become available for customization in the Equipment section. While the standard unlocks end at level 50, there's more to come.
You will unlock a new cosmetic item between rank 52 and rank 100 every two levels. These include keychains, stickers, decals, player card names and more.
Additionally, you can unlock more rewards by completing Quests which open at level 20. These missions are a set of unique challenges that allow you to gain more equipment and learning paths for your classes.
Battlefield 6 Weapon and Vehicle Progression Explained
Just like your career ranks, vehicles and weapons require Equipment Mastery experience. When you perform an action with a weapon, you gain career rank experience and equipment proficiency experience (specific to that weapon).
Increasing the rating of your weapon will unlock various attachments specific to it. You can also unlock pre-made weapon packs with predefined customizations and cosmetics. Likewise, you'll get more customization options for your vehicles, which can then be equipped from Loadout.
