A medical scare briefly stopped a performance at KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas festival as the All-American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritterabruptly interrupted the band's final song mid-song to help a fan who had passed out in the crowd.
TMZ obtained video that shows the band in the middle of “Gives You Hell” inside a packed Kia Forum in Los Angeles when Ritter suddenly stopped the music, grabbed the microphone and pointed into the pit, alerting security that a woman had passed out and needed help.
In front of thousands of people, Ritter calmly told the crowd to make room and help her, then added a little holiday impromptu, calling for someone to bring the woman “Twinkies, or sugar, or Christmas candy, or pieces of gingerbread houses” to help her. Ritter also shouted, “Are you okay?” while checking on her from the stage.
Once the woman was safely removed from the crowd and the situation had calmed down, Ritter rejoined the chorus and finished the song.
The emergency was one of the unexpected highlights of the evening at the annual holiday concert, which featured performances from bands such as Third Eye Blind, Evanescent, Papa Roach, Yellowcard, Social Distortion and Rise Against.
And in classic Almost Acoustic fashion, the crowd received one last gift… a surprise performance from 4 are not blondes.
