Alexandre Texier doesn’t deserve to be left out of the lineup when the injured players return

Alexandre Texier has already played 10 games for the Habs. The Frenchman, acquired after the Blues terminated his contract, arrived in town fresh off the back of his front line injuries.

The club was looking for a solution and that is what brought Texier to the city.

And for now, the forward is proving that he's not just here to fill a jersey: he's been playing some really, really big hockey since his arrival.

Texier has two goals and three assists in 10 games, with at least a point in each of his last three games. And as Anthony Martino noted JIK tonighthis 5v5 numbers are really interesting.

In fact, he has led the club in many 5v5 categories since his arrival.

Interestingly, although the Frenchman often changes lines, he is constantly on a line that does its job well. And at some point you need to look at the constant: this is Texier.

Yesterday we saw Martin Saint-Louis use Texier on some big defensive missions, particularly against Connor McDavid. And this in itself speaks of the coach’s confidence in his player.

Sooner or later, injured players will begin to return to the lineup. For Kirby Duch, it could be just a matter of days.and we know Patrik Laine and Alex Newhook will eventually return as well.

But right now, Texier is proving that he doesn't deserve to suffer the consequences. At least if he stays the course until then: consistency has been a challenge for him in his career… but the good news is that he feels right at home in the city. And this, in his opinion, is one of the factors for his good performances.

After a while

– One to watch.

– He's having a great season.

– Really?
