Last year, in addition to the Habs players, we especially looked at prospects David Reinbacher, Michael Hage and Ivan Demidov.
Demidov is in Montreal this season, but we're still keeping an eye on Reinbacher and Hage. A new promising player is now on everyone's lips: Alex Zharovsky.
The Russian has impressed in the KHL, scoring 14 points in as many games. Unlike Demidov, he gets playing time and has the trust of his coach in Russia. It's not perfect, but it produces. His club's financial situation also helps him play a lot.
But Zharovsky is not just a good hockey player. Like Demidov, he is also good Jack and knows that in order to play in Montreal and be successful with the fans, French is important.
Teammate David Brosseau told RDS that he had already said two words to him in French because he knew he was from Montreal.
This will please the fans. — David Brosseau
Obviously, this will appeal to Habs fans. The Russian has a tutor who helps him learn English, and instead of focusing 100% on Shakespeare's language, he tries to speak the native language of the Quebecers.
Zharovsky has a contract until 2027, but the situation with Demidov is different. The chances of him breaking his contract early are slim. But it is already clear that he won the hearts of the fans.
Given his play on the ice and his personality, I can't wait to see him in the 93rd lineup.
Two assists in the first period? No problem for No. 97 Alexander Zharovsky.
