- Rage against the forces of darkness as an adorable little warrior.
- Upgrade and customize your equipment to survive
- Improve your skills to win every wave
This week is about rage against the abominations from the depths of hell. Game series aheadwhere we will tell you all about the new mobile game that can be played in one form or another despite its unofficial launch.
The titular rise of all things evil and demons takes center stage in Legion of 56: Rise of Darkness, and considering this is a survival RPG, the pressure is definitely on. Luckily, you and all the nightmarish hordes stalking your path are so charmingly designed that, although you're plagued by all sorts of horrors on each playthrough, you don't give up or succumb to the darkness – yet.
Each wave brings more and more nightmare fuel, which you must do your best to keep from reaching the bottom of the screen. You'll automatically attack with swords and fireballs, but once an enemy scrolls to the bottom of the screen you'll take a pretty noticeable hit.
Of course, each demon you destroy will offer experience bonuses and random gear to help you on your quest, with random skills and power-ups you can choose to spice up each playthrough.
I mean, you start out as a hapless would-be warrior in your underwear (and judging by the look on his face, it definitely seems like he has no idea where he is or how he got here), but you'll eventually pick up armor and cool upgrades to increase your survivability.

Honestly, it's this compelling element of roguelite that makes it so damn appealing in my opinion, and with over a hundred types of gear to loot and customize, no other run is truly the same.
And while the cute character designs may lull you into a false sense of security, the tension definitely builds as you go from wave to wave and eventually die – and for some reason you'll want to get up and start over.
So, how to play Legion 56?
Since Google Play is currently in its early access phase, you might think that launching it in its state is a bit of a moot point, but the fact is that all game data will presumably be saved once it's released, so now is the perfect chance to get a head start and keep all your hard-earned progress!
