Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have announced that update 1.0.3 is now available for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.
The update adds the Phantom Ganon feature, Forbidden difficulty, new challenges and quests, and more.

New features
- Phantom Ganon
- Phantom Ganon is a new feature that will randomly activate in battles you complete. In battles where Phantom Ganon is triggered, some of the enemies that appear will turn into Vicious Enemies or Gloom Spawns.
- Additionally, when you defeat powerful enemies, there is a chance that Phantom Ganon will appear. You will be able to get more pure Zonite Steel than in regular battles.
- Forbidden Difficulty
- The new Forbidden difficulty level allows you to engage in high difficulty battles, more challenging than battles on Very Hard difficulty.
- If you complete a certain number of battles on the Forbidden difficulty level, you will receive special rewards such as pure Zonite Steel or an increase in the number of Special Rations you can store.
- New challenges and Added quests
- Similar to the first free update, this second update also adds several new challenges and quests to the Hyrule map after completing the main game.
- Lizalfos and Chukus appear as new evil enemies.
- The Thanagar Meditation Hall on Sky Island is unlocked and you can perform a synchronized strike if you enter it with two characters.
- Added new unique skills
- New unique skills have been added to the game. Mysterious Construct for one-handed, two-handed weapons and spears.
- With the unique Shield Dash skill for one-handed weapons, you can fend off dangerous attacks from charging enemies by raising your shield and charging into them. Additionally, if you time your attack correctly, you can deliver a powerful spinning kick.
- You can master these skills by completing tasks and quests added in this update.
- New weapons added
- The Forbidden Blade was added, a one-handed weapon that was touched by Gloom and transformed ominously. Mysterious Construct and warriors of different nations can equip it.
- You can obtain this weapon by completing battles added in this update.
- The battles below will also be added:
- The battles focused on the warriors.
- A life-and-death struggle with some powerful enemy.
Improved Features
- Additionally, quests that require Sync Strikes as a prerequisite have been changed to also be completed by characters you are not controlling while performing Sync Strikes.
- You can opt out of bonus conversations in the Gallery using the B button.
- The conditions and frequency of display in the Dodge and Guard lessons have been adjusted.
- Once you reach the upper limit of the Zonai Steel you can wield, you will be able to equip the following weapon upgrades at the end of the fight:
- Raise the weapon level limit
- Remove seals
Issues Fixed
- Fixed an issue where assigning Electric Lizalfos parts to the Material Sensor would allow tracking of a fight in which the Electric Lizalfos did not appear (Terror of the Sands).
- Fixed an issue where the Desert Flash of Steel challenge would not appear until several other battles had been completed, even after all displayed required battles had been completed.
- Fixed an issue where the second player's attack sounds and other sounds would not be heard during two-player split-screen play.
- Fixed an issue where when assigning required materials to a material gauge (“Assign Gauge in Weapon Unlock”), the player could only remove them from the gauge through the Materials screen.
