Former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was reportedly found slumped behind the wheel of his car before being arrested for driving under the influence on Sunday.
Photos of the 40-year-old ex-NFL player show him was asleep behind the wheel of his black SUV at a gas station in Sugar Land, Texas, TMZ reports.
While he was sitting with his phone in his hand and asleep at the wheel, police were called to a gas station, where Peterson reportedly failed several sobriety tests before being arrested.
TMZ added that the police report also said a gun was found in the car.
The 15-year NFL veteran was charged with driving under the influence and illegally carrying a weapon, according to the Sugar Land Police Department.
Sunday's arrest was Peterson's second drunk driving arrest this year.
Peterson was arrested in April in Minnesota after de-drafting from the Vikings. At the time, he was arrested after reaching a blood alcohol level of 0.14, nearly twice the legal limit in Minnesota.
The Texas man has had a few more scratches over the past few years. In 2024 he was arrested after missing a court appearance for failure to pay child support. And in June he was caught on video in fist fight during a competitive poker game.
Peterson was a first-round draft pick by the Vikings in 2007 and played for Minnesota for 10 seasons. He finished his career with very short stints with the Saints, Cardinals, Redskins and others before retiring in 2021.
He finished his playing years with 14,918 yards and 120 touchdowns.
