Adele to make acting debut in Tom Ford adaptation of Anne Rice’s Cry to Heaven

Fashion designer Tom Ford invited Adele to play one of the main roles in his film adaptation of Anne Rice's novel. Cry to the heavenshis production company said Wednesday.

The film, which Ford is writing, directing and producing, will mark the superstar singer's acting debut.

Adele is just part of a large ensemble cast that includes Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, George MacKay, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Adolescence breakouts Owen Cooper and Hunter Schafer, although no details were given about their specific roles.

Cry to the heavens will be the third feature film from Ford, who made his directorial debut with the romantic drama. Lonely man a psychological thriller followed in 2009 Nocturnal animals in 2016.

According to the deadlinewhich broke the story, Ford wrote the script and the film is currently in pre-production in London and Rome, with a release date of fall 2026.

As with his previous works, Ford is funding Cry to the heavens myself. In 2016, he told The Associated Press: “I will only make a film if I control the underlying rights.”
