James Ransone, the actor who played Ziggy Sobotka on HBO's “The Wire” and appeared in numerous other TV shows and films, has died. He was 46.
Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office Online records show Ransone committed suicide on Friday.
Ransone's credits include “It: Chapter Two,” “Telephone Black” and “Telephone Black 2,” and he has appeared in TV shows including the police drama “Bosch” and “Poker Face.”
On Sunday, CBS News reached out to Ransone's representatives, as well as a representative from the medical examiner's office, for comment.

Ranson, a Maryland native, said interview magazine In 2016, he realized he was a full-time actor while filming Generation Kill, the 2008 HBO miniseries that also starred Alexander Skarsgård and Jon Huertas. He also talked about how he struggled with addiction for several years before getting sober before filming the series.
According to interviews, Ransone's passion for the performing arts developed when he was a teenager in Baltimore.
“Baltimore produces a really special type of weirdo,” he told Interview Magazine. “Baltimore Animal Collective. Dan Deacon, John Waters. When I meet people from this area, I see a through line of weirdness and edginess.”
Ransone is survived by his wife and two children.
